I was talking with JJ this weekend about adding an optional graphic card for Carousel. Some television stations have mentioned that they’d like to see an option for a higher-end NTSC composite video output than the one included with Carousel. Typically, a really good scan converter is about $3,000.00 and a broadcast graphics card is even more.
That’s when I was reminded about the fact that our CBL-CGSDI option includes not only SDI outputs, but also composite outputs. The output is converted from Carousel’s DVI output and the quality is excellent (perfect, as far as I can tell) and it’s much cheaper than any alternative that I have seen.
Anyway, for those that would like to see a better NTSC signal out of Carousel, this is the most cost effective way that I have found to achieve that goal.
